Original Project Scope
In response to the continuing severe drought in the Turkana region of Kenya, Crossroads, in partnership with Benson and Jenica Ekuwom, Glory Outreach Ministries in Lodwar, Kenya, are striving to empower 1273 struggling agro-pastoralist families with appropriate technology that will improve food security and eliminate their reliance on food relief.  The leading initiative for this project is to enhance agricultural production through irrigation infrastructure improvements.   These improvements include stable river intake canal systems, groundwater extraction, water storage, and gravity distribution of irrigation water to individual family garden plots.

A small eMi survey team will be heading to Kenya ahead of the eMi design team, to capture a topographic survey of the 12 square kilometers encompassed by this project.  A survey assistant is required to assist with this topographic survey.  Interested volunteers need to be technically inclined, having a very basic understanding of survey work, and will be mentored on topographic surveying and the operation of the differential GPS equipment being used.

The Turkana Eden Agricultural Project Survey has been followed by a Master Planning Team (eMi EA Project 9130).
